Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist #88944
Supervised by Hannah Milan Gottsegen, LMFT #36781
It is an honor and privilege for me to walk with you as you learn about yourself and follow your natural impulses toward wholeness, vitality and peace. Healing happens in relationship. As therapist and client, we come together as individuals with different life experiences, challenges and gifts, and we bring our histories, wisdom and strengths together in service of your growth and healing. We learn from one another and are changed by one another, with your well-being held safely at the center of our relationship. I have worked successfully with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem and body image concerns, addiction, and break-ups. Additional areas of focus in my practice include women's sexuality, sexual identity, recovery from childhood abuse, creativity, chronic pain, caregiver burnout and exploration of existential questions. I also work with individuals and couples around relationship issues, including communication, codependency and new relationship structures- open and poly relationships, changes in gender or sexual identity, and premarital counseling.
I specialize in working with individuals in the helping professions- teachers, nurses, personal support workers, child care specialists, social workers, therapists, clergy and students in these fields. This work offers immense rewards and incredible challenges. If you are experiencing frustration, apathy, depressed mood, or increased substance use in response to your work life, you are not alone and there is nothing inherently wrong with you. I am committed to supporting you in understanding and working with these difficult feelings and regaining the passion that led you to your chosen work.
I hold a Masters of Arts in Somatic (body-oriented) Counseling Psychology. I am also a Reiki Practitioner and Kundalini Yoga Instructor and these modalities inform and enrich my work as a psychotherapist. My approach is warm, relational, intuitive and social justice informed. I bring into the therapy room the deer, for her gentleness and patience; the eagle for her vision and connection to spirit; the bear for her fierce, maternal protectiveness and the orca for her emotional intelligence, empathy and interconnectedness.
